The DAD system enables families to get back into their homes in weeks rather than months. The faster drying times mean lower energy use, earlier re-occupation for families and lower costs to the insurance companies. It reduces health risks by discouraging mould growth and the resulting collateral damage.
DAD stands for ‘Direct Air Dryers’ and the system works by significantly increasing the effectiveness of conventional Air Movers. Carefully controlled jets of air remove moisture from damp surfaces over twice as fast as conventional methods. Managing Director and Co-Founder of Direct Air Dryers Limited David Elliott said: “We have developed the new DAD Lite specifically to address the needs arising from flood damage. Its design is based on over 2 years of operational deployment with some of the biggest specialist flood restoration operators in the UK”.
The UK insurance industry is expected to spend £1.5 billion on flood restoration this year and already insurers are indicating that the cost of the recent flood damage across the country was expected to top £1 billion. As many as 27,000 homes and 5,000 businesses may already be affected.
Jack Elliott, Technical Director and Co-Founder of Direct Air Dryers Limited said: “Whilst the DAD system can’t prevent flooding, using this kit will help the insurance industry and the flood restoration industry to deal with the volume of current work, and get people back in their properties and UK businesses up and running a lot sooner”. He went on to say: “Because it is a much more energy efficient form of drying it dramatically reduces the carbon footprint.
DAD presents the flood industry a great opportunity to make people’s lives more bearable after flooding occurs, whilst at the same time drastically cutting the emissions associated with current drying techniques.”
Trevor Baylis, whose company Trevor Baylis Brands plc which has invested in Direct Air Dryers and has been demonstrating DAD on television, said: “Its really heartbreaking to see all these people whose homes and businesses have been devastated by the recent floods but I’m delighted that this new British Invention will be able to help and even better to do it.
The DAD can be hired, made to any size and delivered anywhere in the UK. For more information go to www.directairdryers.co.uk or telephone 05601 290239 or email contact@directairdryers.com
